Pilates is a series of gentle and low-impact movements that work several muscle groups simultaneously. The work strengthens and tones the “core” by focusing on abdominal, back and pelvic muscles. Pilates also works the mind-body connection to improve overall health and wellbeing. Chicago Center for Body Movement is a fully equipped Pilates studio, and clients are coached using Reformers, the Cadillac, Wunda Chair and Ladder Barrel. Mat classes utilize smaller pieces of equipment such as Bosus, Magic Circles and Foam Rollers. Private and semi private sessions are taught both on the equipment and on mats. Students will be asked to focus on posture, alignment, breathing and stretching which builds strength without creating excess bulk.
